One the subject of the Westboro 'bunch' - They will get nowhere near the funeral. Lawmakers passed an emergency law preventing them from getting close. A UofA student is also enlisting volunteers to line the route wearing giant Angel wings to shield the families from the Westboro nut jobs as has been done in other areas around Soldier funerals. The goal is to have zero confrontation with the Westboro wingnuts and deny them media attention if it all possible, cause that's all they want.

Update on the Westboro wackos - they have "decided" to not go to Tucson, and instead are going to San Diego to protest the Laramie Project at Coronado High School.

adoborocks, I agree with Cinder. Excellent post.
There's nobody to point fingers at, other than this nutjob. I even heard about a cop who pulled over this guy a few hours before the incident, for running a stop sign. The cop now wishes he could've done something to prevent this. But I don't blame the cop; he did what he was supposed to do.Refurb Mike

I think that by coming and dealing with the high schoolers, the Westboro folks are just DARING someone to do something to them now. And quite honestly, high schoolers, with their immaturity and impulsiveness are just that bunch. What they do is despicable, no matter what, but now they are purposely going after our children. They need to be stopped.

Well, Cinder, they're coming to your neighborhood. Time to exercise your 2nd Amendment rights. ;-)

There's a special place in hell for the Westborons. I think they are truly a case of if we'd all ignore them, they would go away. And then the world would be a better place, and I could wear my stilettos in peace.
There are a great many things I disagree with La Palin on, but the non-stop dogpiling of her is reminiscent of what Hillary went through in the 2008 primaries. It's just like, come on, let the ***** do her thing and maybe we'll all hear a little less about it. You can't pin this numbnuts' killing spree on Palin anymore than you could pin the Bosnian "conflict" on Hillary.Jaleel White does not approve.

So right, G2. I think that this whole event really has a lot of people re-thinking politics in general, and whether folks truly believe in the MESSAGE, or if they blindly follow their party. I realized that when I was watching the Obama speech. Had Bush given that speech, I'm SURE I would have been bitching up a storm about how inappropriate it was. I hope that I can really learn from this and grow.

Honestly, I've tried to not even think political. Even though she's a Democrat; I've thought of this as a senseless, stupid shooting. At politics didn't mean anything to that 9 year old.
My biggest regret is that he didn't get a few bullets himself, maybe somewhere not-fatal so he'd have to suffer more for the remainder of his existence.Refurb Mike
