Restaurant Details

The Blue Bayou opened in 1967 as a compliment to Pirates of the Caribbean. The restaurant serves as a great backdrop for the ride, and the ride serves as a great backdrop for the restaurant.

The plantation house that serves as a backdrop for the restaurant hides the entrance to the restaurant as well as the kitchen and restrooms. This plantation house was inspired by the structure that housed the Chicken Plantation Restaurant. This former restaurant was removed to make way for New Orleans Square.

The restaurant shares the same show building as Pirates of the Caribbean. It's setting of an outdoor bayou is achieved through a dark, high ceiling, air conditioning, and the right amount of light to illuminate the restaurant, but not show the ceiling or walls.
