Fun Facts
- A unique aspect of the Paradise Pier Hotel is its rooftop pool which features a roller coster-inspired water slide named California Streamin' after the California Screamin' attraction.
History
The Paradise Pier Hotel was originally owned by a Japanese Company and called The Emerald Hotel when it opened in 1984. Later, the company changed the hotel's name to the Pan Pacific Hotel. They owned this hotel up until 1995, when The Walt Disney Company bought it to add to the Disneyland Resort's growing number of hotels. Disney then slightly modified the name to the Disneyland Pacific Hotel.
With the big Disneyland Resort Expansion beginning in 1998, Disney remodled the hotel and changed it's name to Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel. This was to compliment the neighboring land in the new theme park, Disney California Adventure that was being bulit nextdoor.
When Disney California Adventure opened, The Paradise Pier Hotel came with it's own enterance into the park. However, due to low use, the entrance was closed in 2004. This area is now the site of Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa's new hotel wing.
