  • Shows occur every 20 minutes so the wait is not usually longer than that.
  • Although not marked on park maps, restrooms are available to the left of the attraction’s main entrance on the patio, just up the stairs to the left.
  • Resist the urge to try and sit in the front row. The best seat of the house is actually along the back walls of the Tiki Room, the seats are also much more comfortable.
  • Unlike most other attractions at the resort, you can bring your food and drink (including your Dole refreshments sold nearby) into the Tiki Room with you. Just be sure to take your enchanted tiki trash with you on the way out.
  • Near the end of the show, the performance is interrupted by a loud thunderstorm that sends the room into near-total darkness. While the rest of the show is kid-friendly, be forewarned that this particular moment may frighten small children or those afraid of loud/dark moments.
  • Have a seat, escape the heat!

Fun Facts

  • This attraction opened June 23, 1963.
  • This attraction can only be found at Disneyland in California.
  • The original sponsor of the Tiki Room was United Airlines which lasted until 1973 when Dole took over sponsorship.
  • There are two modified versions of the show. "The Tiki Room: Under New Management" currently exists at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and includes the characters Iago (Aladdin) and Zazu (Lion King). The other version of the show, "Tiki Room: Stitch Presents E Komo Mai," currently exists in Tokyo Disneyland and includes Stitch (Lilo & Stitch).
  • The Enchanted Tiki Room is the first attraction to function completely via the wonders of Audio-Animatronics technology.
  • There are 225 performers in this attraction, including birds, flowers, and tiki poles that all spring to life.
  • The Enchanted Tiki Room was originally conceived as a restaurant, but because of capacity issues (only a limited number of people would be able to enjoy the birds if it were a restaurant) Walt Disney decided against it.
  • The plans to not make the Tiki Room a restaurant came relatively late in the creation of the attraction. If you look closely from the outside, you’ll see that the Tiki Room’s building is connected to the Main Street Plaza Pavilion which was a restaurant at the time of construction. The Plaza Pavilion and Tiki Room were to share the same kitchen.
  • The dining room chairs for the proposed restaurant had already been ordered when the decision was made to turn the Tiki Room into a show. The same dining chairs remained in the attraction until a thorough refurbishment in 2005 when the chairs were replaced with padded bench-style seats.

In the mid 1990s, the Tiki Room underwent a refurbishment to shorten the length of the show and allow for shows to start every 20 minutes.
