Ride Capacity: About 300 people per voyage; a couple dozen people fit on each of the three decks of the boat.

Fun Facts

  • This attraction opened on July 17, 1955. It’s an opening day original!
  • The riverboat weighs 150 tons and can carry up to 300 guests.
  • The Mark Twain’s hull was built at the Todd Shipyards in San Pedro, California and trucked over to Anaheim where the rest of the ship was assembled on-site.
  • There are three decks on the Mark Twain which, from the bottom up, are named Main Deck, Promenade Deck, and Texas Deck. The Wheelhouse sits above the Texas Deck where the Captain mans the boat and blows the horn.
  • Listen carefully to the on-board narration. The voice is that of Disney legend Thurl Ravenscroft. You may recognize his voice from the Haunted Mansion.
  • Walt Disney celebrated his 30th wedding anniversary aboard this ship with his wife Lillian four days before the official grand opening of Disneyland Park in 1955.
  • The Mark Twain appears in Fantasmic! helmed by Mickey as Steamboat Willie.
