PETE’S DRAGON at El Capitan brings high-flying film plus historic look at “Dragons of Disney”

Now through August 28, 2016, you can enjoy Disney’s new PETE’S DRAGON at the fabulous El Capitan Theater in Hollywood. We were invited by Disney to come take a look at the goings on.

Apart from enjoying the film in Dolby Vision™ Laser Projection with Dolby Atmos®Audio, admission into the theater includes access to the exclusive DRAGONS OF DISNEY exhibit which contains concept art, renderings, maquettes, film props and costume displays dealing with Disney’s far-reaching history with dragons! From the 1931 “The China Plate” Silly Symphony Cartoon (yikes, you gotta give that one a watch) to the Reluctant Dragon, Maleficent, and more, the exhibit has a surprisingly robust selection of dragon pieces from the Disney Archives.

PETE’S DRAGON is certified fresh on Rottentomatoes with an 86% score. It delivers as a great film that touches on themes of family, trust, and even parallels with the concepts of faith. It’s a complete departure from the campy 1977 musical an absolute must-see, especially with little ones in tow.

Don’t forget after the movie to head downstairs to the Lower Lounge to enjoy the exclusive display!

The collection of artifacts was compiled by the Walt Disney Animation Research Library.
