PICTORIAL: AP Days return, ‘Beauty and the Beast’ sneaks in, new refubs, and more
It was another suitably semi-soggy weekend at the Disneyland Resort and in our visit this weekend, we got more sights on what guests can expect when visiting the parks.
The big highlight for this week was the return of the popular #APDays event. Already exceedingly popular, the freebie offering for Annual Passholders is packing in the crowds at Tomorrowland’s Starcade.
Helping to contribute to the crowds is actually the LACK of things to do. Or at least in the form of several attractions down for refurbishment. Matterhorn, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Grizzly River Run are all major attractions that are currently down and unable to soak up the masses helping contribute to the parks feeling more busy over all.
Also new this week at Disney California Adventure we get our first good peek at the new paint and pipework being added to the former Tower of Terror as it prepares for its transition to Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT.
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is also making itself known around the parks with a special extended sneak peek opportunity in HollywoodLand and a new shop in Fantasyland.
Of course, we’ll take a brief merch run amongst a bunch of other stops. All of this and more in our latest park pictorial! ENJOY!

Star Wars Land
Areas around Frontierland are also still a buzz with activity after the Star Wars-themed drastically changed this back-half of the park. Sailing Ship Columbia is seeing some progress as it prepares to take on new adventures in Fantasmic! of a cursed Caribbean pirate variety
Some tarps came down on the scaffolding at the Tower of Terror revealing some of the new paint job and the network of pipes that will soon festoon the entire facade. What do you think?
Still love this Pretzel Cart.
The Award Wieners ZOOTOPIA special is back without the ZOOTOPIA theme. Banana Corn Dogs with Mango and Raspberry dipping sauces, $5.99.
The Winter AP DAYS are here and this time they are being held at Disneyland in celebration of the return of the Main Street Electrical Parade.
Signage all around ensures that guests do not miss out on the offering.
(I think the word is out)
The extended queue for PATH OF THE JEDI is being used to corral people looking to get their chance to enter the Starcade. As with previous AP Days, the waits to enter the area can be 30 minutes or more.
Separate lines are available for those just looking to get their commemorative button.
Once you do get inside, you’ll find a special photo op.
Character Meet and Greet (this week it’s Robin Hood and Friar Tuck.)
A comfy lounge with phone chargers.
Crafts tables with coloring and other activities. There’s also recipe cards available.
A few arcade games and of course MERCH OPPORTUNITIES….
A cute Elliot made of plants advertising AP Days.
This is REALLY making me wish they would do a Flower and Garden Festival at the Disneyland Resort.
The parks are busy and feeling busier with several key players out of commission, unable to soak up the masses.
Matterhorn is down.
Pirates of the Caribbean is also down. This joins Grizzly River Run at Disney California Adventure which accounts for a LARGE amount of people-eating attractions that will make the parks feel much busier than they typically feel when these attractions are all running.
Pioneer Mercantile is also still closed. What exactly are they doing in there… hmm…
Snow White’s Grotto is still getting some TLC.
Beauty and the Beast Pop-up Shop
Most recently known as the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Royal Reception Room, this small flex space in Fantasyland has been updated to offer an assortment of merchandise for BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.
She kinda looks like Justin Bieber. No? Just a little?
Seriously, can we please get a Flower and Garden Festival??
Well you are certainly a long way away from the moat!
$1 refills means lots of popcorn for ducks!
Curl Surf has finally opened!
House of Blues is Splitsville.
More Sweetheart Sweet Treats
Not specifically for Valentine’s Day but Caramel Bars. NOM NOM. Not a fan of salted caramel but it’s easy enough to wipe off. The caramel is super sweet and creamy but not quite chewy enough for my liking.
Ready for Valentine’s Day.
St. Patrick’s Day ready.
