More concept art, details on upcoming ‘Star Wars’ themed land, plus new STAR TOURS destination
Coming in hot off of the Star Wars Celebration Orlando 2017 event, Disney and LucasFilm have released the latest peek into the upcoming Star Wars themed land coming to both Disneyland Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios Park. They also confirmed that Star Tours: The Adventures Continue will be updated to feature a scene from the planet of Crait in support of the new Star Wars: The Last Jedi film due out later this year!
The video above was shared during the Star Wars and Disney Parks: A Galaxy in the Making panel and included concept art and behind the scenes look at the land including new figures, characters, and even an inside look at the upcoming Millennium Falcon attraction which puts guests in the pilot seat of the iconic ship!
The team in the panel also teased new details about the story behind this mysterious destination a planet somewhere on the Outer Rim — lying on the edge of the Unknown Regions. The remote village on this planet was once a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade routes, but the prominence of the outpost has been bypassed with the rise of hyperspace travel. Now home to those who prefer less attention, it has become a thriving port for smugglers, rogue traders and adventurers traveling between the frontier and uncharted space. It’s also a convenient safe-haven for others intent on avoiding the expanding reach of the First Order.
Unusual characters from across the galaxy have landed here, preferring the “no questions asked” environment as well as easy access to exotic supplies and an abundant supply of ready rogues looking to join a crew for their next adventure.
BOTH of the STAR WARS-themed lands (the one at Disneyland and the one at Disney’s Hollywood Studios) will be opening in 2019.
The next venture into a Galaxy Far, Far away will be December 2017 for STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII.
