Although Disney just recently announced their 2017 holiday plans, we still haven’t even officially hit the Halloween Time season and there’s still plenty to know about that celebration. New this year is a special promotional tie-in with the upcoming Disney-Pixar COCO which will bring new entertainment, food, and offerings in celebration of the Dia de los Muertos holiday. Plaza de la Familia

A highlight of Plaza de la Familia will include “A Musical Celebration of COCO,” featuring an entertaining group of storytellers and original songs from COCO in a performance of dance and music. Our singing host, Mateo, is joined by an ensemble of Folklórico dancers and the GRAMMY®-winning Mariachi Divas, bringing to vibrant life three of the film’s enchanting songs.

You’ll also be able to enjoy The World of COCOexhibit, a Tree of Life interactive photo location, delicious all-new menu of Mexican foods, and authentic Mariachi music on the Paradise Gardens Bandstand.

Disney·Pixar’s COCO arrives in theaters in 3D on November 22.

Haul-O-Ween

We already knew about a few of the details for the upcoming Radiator Springs layover including two attraction layovers with Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters becoming Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween and Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree becoming Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree!. (An attraction layover is also rumored to debut NEXT YEAR on Radiator Springs Racers.)

Other details to look out for are decorations around the various establishments in the land including Fillmore’s Jack-Oil-Lanterns collection and ghostly folk art plus a Spider-Car spinning webs all over Flo’s V8 Café and more. Scary the Scarecar will also stand guard over the entrance to Route 66, a preview to the Haul-O-Ween transformation awaiting guests in Cars Land.

Headless Horseman Statue at Buena Vista Street

A new 10-foot-tall statue of the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow, holding his jack-o’-lantern head up to the sky, will haunt Carthay Circle throughout the season.

New Halloween Costumes for Characters

Mickey Mouse and his friends will appear in new costumes along Buena Vista Street, with Mickey Mouse as a bat, Goofy as a ghost, Daisy Duck as a witch and more!

Oogie Boogie Welcomes You

A spell will be cast the moment you enter Disney California Adventure park, with new Halloween decor inspired by “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Oogie Boogie’s oversized silhouette beckons guests through the main entrance as a swarm of bats encircle Carthay Circle Theatre.

Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark

Once the sun sets each evening during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! will transform into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark. The Guardians have successfully escaped The Collector’s Fortress, but they have accidentally left Groot behind! Help Rocket distract the creatures that have been released so he can find and rescue his little buddy.
