Meet Velociraptor BLUE and join in on the Coutndown to Extinction at Universal Studios
After making her preview debut last month during the Jurassic Park 25th Anniversary Celebration, it seems that Blue the velociraptor from the Jurassic World franchise has made her official theme park debut at both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort as part of the “Raptor Encounter” experience.
The imposing life-like creature is Owen’s beloved Velociraptor from Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and was brought to life for the “Raptor Encounter” employing the exact computer-generated model and images used to create her for the big screen.
With their intimidating eye contact and ear-piercing screeches that reinforce predatory dominance, each Raptor in the park bares 56 razor-sharp, bone-crushing teeth and lunges forward with curved talons that extend up to 12 inches from their 18-inch-long feet. Towering 12 feet in height and 15 feet—from tail to snout—the aggressive carnivores will each succumb to highly skilled handlers who adeptly guide them to within feet of guests.
You can see video of her below at last month’s special event.
Countdown to Extinction
Universal recently confirmed that the existing Jurassic Park attractions will undergo transformations to update them into Jurassic World attractions.
The update promises to draw from the favorite elements of the original but be a next-generation, fully reimagined iteration of the ground-breaking adventure. With the introduction of never-before-seen dinosaurs, enhanced storytelling, lush scenic design, an entirely new color scheme and uncompromised state-of the art technology, the ride will capture elements never experienced within a theme park.
To rally fans for the finale of “Jurassic Park—The Ride” on September 3, 2018, Universal Studios Hollywood has launched a “Countdown to the Extinction” campaign—inviting guests from around the world to experience the ride before its transformation into the all-new “Jurassic World Ride” in 2019.
