It was a monumental night at the 91st Annual Academy Awards and Disney had a part in the evening with 4 WINS!  As expected, the lion’s share of the wins tonight for the house of mouse went to  BLACK PANTHER!

Here’s Disney’s wins:

  • Short Film – Animated (BAO)
  • Costume Design (BLACK PANTHER—Ruth Carter)
  • Production Design (BLACK PANTHER—Hannah Beachler)
  • Music – Original Score (BLACK PANTHER—Ludwig Göransson)

Disney had a notable 10 (not counting their Fox releases) total nominations this year; awards they missed out on included: Best Picture (BLACK PANTHER), Animated Feature Film, (INCREDIBLES 2, RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET), Music – Original Song (BLACK PANTHER—“All The Stars”, MARY POPPINS RETURNS—“The Place Where Lost Things Go”), Sound Editing (BLACK PANTHER), Sound Mixing (BLACK PANTHER), Visual Effects (Marvel Studios’ AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, CHRISTOPHER ROBIN, SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY).

Last year, Disney only snagged a single Oscar statue for the Bests Animated Feature Film, Disney-Pixar’s COCO!
