PICTORIAL: Meet Captain Marvel, See Star Wars land, Taste St. Patrick’s Day and more at Disneyland Resort
Disneyland Resort is humming with excitement not just as Spring Break crowds begin to ascend on the Happiest Place on Earth but also as construction projects continue at fever pitch. From the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge expansion and parking lot coming in by May, to refurbishment projects and “Project Stardust” enhancements around the Resort there’s still quite a bit going on as Disney braces for what is expected to be its busiest year ever on record.
This week, we’ll take a peek at progress on Downtown Disney projects, get a taste of St. Patirck’s Day, visit the new Captain Marvel character experience, and of course a nice merch run for you at the end in this latest park pictorial. ENJOY!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day
Wishing you a happy and safe St. Patrick’s Day! Disney currently has these little guys in stock. Or if you’re looking for a bit of refresh-mint… you can head over to the Red Rose Taverne for their limited-time Enchant-Mint shake which takes mint chocolate chip ice cream blended as a shake and topped with whipped cream some lucky cereal marshmallows.
Captain Marvel has landed
For a limited time, guests visiting Disney California Adventure can visit with Marvel’s latest superhero Captain Marvel! Carol Danvers herself makes several appearances daily in the Hollywood Land section of the park taking to a giant hangar converted for S.H.I.E.L.D. to play tribute to the new.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
As we get closer to the May 30, 2019 opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, less and less noticeable change is taking place on the visible parts of the land.
The public won’t get their chance to explore Galaxy’s Edge until June when the new land opens at Disneyland (and then again later in the year a clone of the land opens in Walt Disney World) but Marvel is ready to take you to the planet of Batuu — and specifically the Black Spire.
It’s no secret that the Star Was: Galaxy’s Edge expansion (or unofficially Star Wars Land for the uninitiated) will be an incredible undertaking when it lands at both Disneyland Park in Anaheim and Disney’s Hollywood Studios Park at Walt Disney World and now we have more info (thanks to the fabulous D23) than ever before about the impressive new undertaking opening as early as this summer in California and later this year in Florida!

As part of the Walt Disney Company’s commitment to reduce plastic waste, the Disneyland Resort has begun to phase out plastic straws in favor of “Earth-friendly” paper straws that are biodegradable. This is a clear win for the environment but we were worried about the quality of the replacement straws considering less-than-magical experiences with them in the past. We’re happy to confirm that the new straws at Disneyland are possibly the best disposable paper straws we’ve ever used!
The fan favorite-show is back once again. Make sure to snag your FastPass early in the day, they do go fast! Otherwise, you’ll have to watch in a standby area.
