This past weekend  at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige took the stage in Hall H for a panel to showcase the expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe, moderated by Chris Hardwick.

This was probably my most anticipaated panel of the Con for me. Even though we knew all of the movies they have lined up, some of the casting choices were still unknown, and rumors were running crazy in the Disney social media spheres about the Guardians of the Galaxy redo for Tower of Terror at Disney California Adventure.

Before we got into the news, Marvel also announced a brand new logo for their MARVEL STUDIOS division…

BLACK PANTHER

In Theaters February 16, 2018

The panel kicked off with surprise guests from BLACK PANTHER, including cast members Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther),Michael B. Jordan (Erik Killmonger), Lupita Nyong’o (Nakia), Danai Gurira (Okoye) and director Ryan Coogler.

This marked their first appearance as a cast. They also showed a special clip of the movie just for us at Comic-Con. The movie definitly looks exciting!

THOR: RAGNAROK

In Theaters November 3, 2017

Chris Hemsworth although in the middle of shooting in Australia didnt want to be left out of the Conic-Con fun. He sent a video highlighting what Thor has been up to since the last Avengers.  The video is hysterical and is a fake docu drama that follows him through what it it would be like in real situations. We were then treated to a sizzle reel of concept art and test footage. Also, this will be the first film with the new Marvel Studios logo shown below.

DOCTOR STRANGE

In Theaters November 4, 2016

Probably one of the best presentations at Comic-Con was the lead up or DOCTOR STRANGE. Fog started filling the room, huge screens around Hall H wer revieled, then the lasers started. We were then shown footage from thr film.

After the spectacale, for the first time, fans were introduced to the cast of DOCTOR STRANGEBenedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Stephen Strange), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Mordo), Tilda Swinton (The Ancient One), Rachel McAdams (Doctor Christine Palmer), Mads Mikkelsen (Kaecilius) and Benedict Wong (Master Wong) along with director Scott Derrickson. After a brief talk with the cast we were treated to the brand new trailer below.

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

In Theaters July 7, 2017

Making his first appearance at Comic-Con was the star of SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING, Tom Holland (Peter Parker), who was joined by cast members including Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori and director Jon Watts as they showed in-production footage for fans. Im very mixed about this film, but the footage that they did show seemed funny. We shall see if it lives up to the MCU hits that the studios have had lately.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2

In Theaters May 5, 2017

The panel started with Ravagers from GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2, coming from the back of Hall H, and taking over the stage. After causing some havoc with Fiege and Hardwick we were treated to a surprise appearance from returning cast members Chris Pratt (Peter Quill), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Michael Rooker (Yondu) and new additions Kurt Russell (Ego), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Elizabeth Debicki (Ayesha) alongside director James Gunn.

Seeing Michael Rooker in full makeup as Yondu was pretty amazing. His enthusiasm that he puts into any character he plays is great. James Gunn did say there would be a lot more Yondu in the upcoming film, and the scenes we saw look spectacular.

Then probably the biggest surprise was the announcement of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: MISSION BREAKOUT! Debuting in summer 2017, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! will take Disney California Adventure park guests through the fortress-like museum of the mysterious Collector, who is keeping his newest acquisitions, the Guardians of the Galaxy, as prisoners. Guests will board a gantry lift which launches them into a daring adventure as they join Rocket Raccoon in an attempt to set free his fellow Guardians. The new attraction will transform the structure currently housing The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. More information in our previous article here.

CAPTAIN MARVEL

In Theaters March 8, 2019

As a final surprise, Kevin Feige introduced the brand new addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Brie Larson, who will be playing Captain Marvel aka Carol Danvers in CAPTAIN MARVEL.
