The Disneyland Resort continues to move towards a spring season that should promise to be a busy one; not just with crowds but continuing construction and refurbishment projects.
Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure continues to move along bringing re-imagined offerings including Incredicoaster, Lamplight Lounge, and a completely reworked land. Plus, work is underway to bring to life the Disney California Food and Wine Festival next weekend amongst other smaller projects.
Over at Disneyland construction continues on the high-profile Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, while refurbs continue on Dumbo, Splash Mountain, and more. Of course, we’ll have a merch run this week and it’s a huge one. All of this and more in our latest pictorial update! ENJOY!
A flurry of activity is currently on-going on the south-end of Disney California Adventure to bring PIXAR PIER to life by this summer. There’s a lot of components to the re-imagination of Paradise Pier.
Although it’s currently closed, the Cove Bar WILL reopen March 16 before closing again at the end of May for its permanent transformation. The new location is expected to reopen June 23 with the rest of Pixar Pier and promises to be an elegant yet fun gathering place for the whole family.
Lamplight Lounge celebrates the creativity, inspirations and personalities of the artists and storytellers who have brought Pixar stories to life. Guests will discover the artistic marks that the Pixar “regulars” have left throughout the lounge: concept art, a quick sketch on a napkin, knick-knacks and collectible toys of beloved Pixar characters will adorn the space.
The fan-favorite Lobster Nachos will be present on the menu as will California casual gastro-pub cuisine that that will join a full bar with unique signature cocktails. This seaside lounge contains a full bar with picturesque waterfront views from both upstairs and downstairs. At night, outdoor seating provides views of the illuminated Pixar Pier and “World of Color.”
Toy Story Mania!
More scaffolding has shown up on the INCREDICOASTER. The former California Screamin’ attraction is getting a big INCREDIBLES themed makeover.
Concept art shows a big PIXAR PIER logo showing up inside the loop.
The launch hills are being enclosed for assumed new show elements.
The loading station is being reworked to resemble the Parr family home from the movie.
The old paneling is coming off piece by piece.

Spot the Matterhorn against the new rising mountainscape.
A new structure is rising up next to the Mickey and Friends parking structure which will bring an additional 6,500 much-needed parking spots to the Resort. A second structure is also planned near Paradise Pier hotel which will bring an additional 2,000 spots.
Looks like some work is going on at the loading station on the Western side of the parks.
Around Disney California Adventure
Have always loved this planter overlooking the pier. This weekend, it was sporting a Mickey Mouse color palate.

New walls are up on Main Street in support of the new track work going on for the Horsedrawn Streetcars. But more importantly… a lot of walls have come down returning normal vistas to the park! The tracks are now lined with lovely new brick-work.
The Tropical Hideaway will soon be replacing Aladdin’s Oasis at Disneyland. Not much was mentioned but new concept art and a short snippet give a peek at what to expect:
This new experience will soon appear along the tropical shores nestled between the Jungle Cruise and “Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room.” This one-of-a-kind destination will be a popular rest stop for Adventureland locals and weary explorers alike. Guests will be able to rub elbows with their favorite skippers in an exotic traders’ market, featuring all of the sights, sounds and flavors of the tropics.
Storybookland Canal Boats have returned.
The Dumbo attraction seems to have been completely removed for refurbishment as work is underway for a new queue and shade structure for the attraction.
A new shade structure and queue setup is also underway at “it’s a small world.”
Splash Mountain seems to be getting some extensive flume work done during its refurbishment.
This entire scene will be reworked this year to remove the BUY A BRIDE concept.
I can see what’s happening, and they don’t have a clue… This trio’s down to two.
S’mores Churro in New Orleans Square.

Around the Resort
Lunch again at Splitsville. We’re fans. Above is Crouching Dragon includes tempura shrimp, asparagus, and avocado. Topped with spicy krab mix and drizzed with eel sauce, spicy mayo, and Srirarcha. $19. The pizza is the Firehouse which includes mozzarella, diced chicken tenders, Buffalo sauce, blue cheese crumbles, and drizzled with ranch dressing. $20.
You can take your pizza to go. Speaking of pizza, Naple’s expansion continues to bring expanded dining patio, outdoor bar, and new wood-burning pizza ovens.
World of Disney’s refurbishment is well under way with half the store closed off.
What’s left of the store is open, though. Once the first half is finished, the currently open piece will go down for its refurbishment.
No visible progress on Ballast Point or Black Tap which are coming soon to Downtown Disney.
D-Street continues to be a kiosk selling random Disney stuff, not with much of the D-Street edge, though. We have bubble wands and character plush here today.
