WATCH: Pixar SparkShorts SMASH AND GRAB brings inanimate robots to life
SMASH AND GRAB is here and it’s the latest from the Pixar SparkShorts program at the house of the lamp. Imagine Wall-E with even less humans and pair it with the universal sentiment of freedom and you’ll get an idea of what to expect here.
KITBULL was directed by Brian Larsen and produced by David Lally and features two antiquated robots who risk everything for freedom and for each other after years of toiling away inside the engine room of a towering locomotive.
SMASH AND GRAB follows up in what promises to be a strong roster of fresh new short films released on their own merits rather than as pre-cursors to big animated theatrical releases. The PURL was the first one, released earlier this month, and SMASH AND GRAB debuts next week. The Pixar SparkShorts program is intended to discover new storytellers, explore new storytelling techniques, and experiment with new production workflows.
