PICTORIAL: Holiday weekend brings crowds and rain plus progress on Marvel, Tomorrowland, parking, and more!
Over the long holiday weekend, the Disneyland Resort saw no slowing of progress on active projects despite heavy rains and heavy crowds.
We’ll pop in for a look at on-going work at Mickey and Friends parking structure where finishing touches are placed while other heavy construction still continues. Plus, in the parks, we’ll stop in for a look at Tomorrowland and its Project Stardust enhancements, Snow White’s Scary Adventures, and more holiday eats. Plus, we’ll catch up on the Avengers Campus Marvel land and upcoming Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Toon Town.
Of course, we’ll have a nice little merch run for you at the end plus a lot more in our latest park pictorial. ENJOY!
Looks A Lot Like Christmas
We’re starting off with a photo that is proving popular on our social media channels with the Matterhorn serving as the foreground to a snow-capped mountainscape courtesy of the recent So. Cal. winter storms.
New Happily Ever After
Snow White’s Scary Adventures at Disneyland is prepping for a huge dose of TLC and it seems like a heaping spoonful of magic is being added during the attraction’s refurbishment with a completely re-thought finale that should promise to be a sparkling and magnificent ending to the classic princess story.
Dark Days Ahead
Disneyland After Dark is back once more for early 2020 bringing FOUR different opportunities to rock the night away in special after-hours parks experiences at the happiest place on earth. Each event will offer a different theme complemented by unique entertainment, specialty food, collectible merchandise and more!
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Preparations are under way for next weekend’s Candlelight Procession & Ceremony.
Danny looking gorgeous in winter’s light.
Thumpety, thump, thump!
Heading straight on into the Disney Holidays!
Iconic center piece of the Disney Holidays.
We found Bert and Mary having a different kind of Holiday, one quite Jolly.
Looks like Bert drew Mary a nice warm version of her regular Jolly Holiday outfit.
Looking for Snow White, eh? Sure you’ve come to the proper place. But keep a weather eye open, and hold on tight—with both hands, if you please. There be spells ahead! And an Evil Queen waiting for them what don’t obey.
We’re giving up marquee-watch on Fantasy Faire Gifts.
Looks like the last bit of railing has gone in on the new planters in front of Tomorrowland.
The concept art revealed last weekend teases what’s to come.
It would appear this cutout for benches will soon become a new walkway.
Relief area for service animals.
TLC work continues on the Tomorrowland main entrance area.
The stairway construction is revealed once again since the scrims were lowered for weather.
A fourth Tomorrowland Fastpass kiosk was added in front of Space Mountain. It provides FastPasses for all three FP-enabled attractions in the land.
Around Disney California Adventure
A peek at the crowd / line / wait situation at DCA.
Festival of Holidays rocking on with The Sound in the distance.
Carthay Circle Restaurant menus for Frozen dinner packages and World of Color dinner packages.
It’s not just purple cotton candy, it’s Maleficent Glow Cotton Candy. $12, please.
The disease continues to spread with more of these really ugly merch carts popping up everywhere in Disney California Adventure. Gotta squeeze every last penny out of every square inch, apparently.
Walls still surround portions of the Red Car Trolley track which seems to be getting a re-route to the other side of the tower. Had really hoped that this would connect deeper into the new Avengers Campus.
Disney+ trailers/shorts in the near future?
For the Disney Holidays, Award Wieners has introduced two gems to its menus for the season. The Cheesy “Corn” comes as toppings on either a a jalapeño-cheddar sausage (on a toasted potato bun) or the location’s regular fimlstrip fries. What exactly are the toppings? Tangy corn-cheese sauce, chile-lime-dusted corn fritters, pickled fresno chiles, and cilantro. SO GOOD!
Seriously want cup of just the tangy corn nuggets to munch on in the park!!
At the Festival of Holidays, the Pork al Pastor Naan Taco is a magical delight with Pineapple Pico de Gallo and Cilantro-Lime Crema!
If you’re into the whole “Thanksgiving dinner on a…” then this pizza at Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta might be for you.
Plant-etarium street tacos at the Studio Catering Co. truck feature brussel sprouts, salsa verde, and pickled red onions with an apple pomegranate slaw. This is still a mega tasty option although this year they only give you two instead of three.
Around the Resort
The elevators are now caged in permanently with metal scrims.
New vending machines are ready to dispense your first concessions of the day before you even leave the structure. Gotta squeeze every last penny out of every square inch, apparently. Cynicism aside, this actually does make sense. Dare we say they should have a concession stand down in the main courtyard with some of the essentials/basics?
Elevators are amongst the last bit of work to be completed at the structure.
The new Mickey statue has FINALLY been placed. A lovely new photo-op.
This unload station is now completely free of construction walls.
When your conscience is not a good enough guide. Rely on signage.
Lots of A-frame sandwich boards around the structure with various notes about strollers, hours, etc.
Spotted some adorable playsets that open up from life-size storybook cases. This display one features Agrabah.
Here’s Ariel and Belle’s respective books.
You can also get storybook playsets for FROZEN and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.
THE LITTLE MERMAID and TANGLED are also available.
Walt’s apartment shadow box.
Evil Queen stained glass window.
Custom sketch art.
Star Wars X TOMS
If you’re at Curl Surf in Downtown Disney, you can pick yourself up one of several different kinds of STAR WARS X TOMS shoes. The kind folks at TOMS sent us some shoes in return for sharing it with our readers here on MouseInfo. After we got them in the mail, we couldn’t help but to take them with us straight to Batuu!
Into the Unknown
You can now meet Anna and Elsa in their new FROZEN 2 costumes at Disney Animation in Disney California Adventure.
Sandy Claws has decided to drop on in for the Disney Holidays at Disneyland! Now through the holiday season he and Sally can be found in New Orleans Square greeting guests.
There’s a special magic at Disneyland each year, the spirit of the season can make all dreams come true and now through January 6, 2020 you can experience the Disney Holidays at the Disneyland Resort.
