Universal to co-launch upcoming theatrical/home release, Disney next?

Many have suggested it of all studios (including Disney) but with various states and counties across the US closing movie theaters and similar entertainment venues in respones to COVID-19 coronavirus threats, it seems Universal Studios are one of the first players to take action in light of the coronavirus restrictions on exhibition of films. According to Deadline, Universal will release their upcoming TROLLS WORLD TOUR film both in-home and theatrically (where available) on the same day.

Not only that, but Universal films that are already out in theaters including (The Invisible Man and The Hunt, Emma) will have shortend theater-to-home windows with the films available as early as this Friday for on-demand 48-hour rental at the suggested price of $19.99.

Disney recently made a similar unprecedented move by releasing last year’s FROZEN 2 three months ahead of schedule on their popular Disney+ streaming service. Could a similar fate befall Disney-Pixar’s ONWARD which released in theaters on March 6, 2020?
